This afternoon was sunny to begin with but later on, it has eventually become cloudier and there was even some light rain a short while ago although this was barely enough to even wet the ground.
I am unable to give an accurate figure for today's sunshine total at Edinburgh Gogarbank just now since there is no data for the hour between 3pm and 4pm this afternoon which has come through. From the data which I have, I can say that it had been completely sunny from my last report at just after 12 noon up until 3pm this afternoon, but there was no recorded sunshine for that final hour between 4pm and 5pm. This would suggest that the hour for which I don't have any data is probably the period where it started to cloud over. This would in turn, suggest that the hour for which I have no data is unlikely to have been a completely sunny hour, but probably amounts to between 6 minutes and 54 minutes of sunshine within that hour. What I can say is that a total of 5.5 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank up until 3pm this afternoon. As a rough estimate for now, I can guess that there would have been about half an hour of sunshine between 3pm and 4pm and so, the provisional sunshine total for today in the end which I will give is a total of 6.0 hours of sunshine. However, that is only provisional, and will be subject to change if and when that missing data comes through.
Anyway, today's maximum temperature was 13.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 9.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
