As we move into the final month of the meteorological autumn, I can report that it is now raining here in Edinburgh.
In the end, a total of 1.2 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank during yesterday along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that in the end, yesterday will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations although it has taken until the very last hour of the day (i.e. the hour between 11pm and midnight) for the required threshold for that to be met at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh despite the fact that this threshold had already been met at Edinburgh Gogarbank during yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 6.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
