A very cold and frosty morning here in Edinburgh with an official air frost at all three of my local stations, although this also means that today is starting off on a bright and mostly sunny note with only fairly small amounts of cloud at times.
At the moment, the temperatures at two of my three local stations has not yet reached their overnight minimum values although it did get as low as -7°C at Edinburgh Airport which is incredibly cold for so early in the season, especially when you consider that the temperature at that station never got all that much lower than that at any time during the whole of last winter.
Having said that though, we do occasionally get summer-like weather as early in the year as April which means that on that basis, there is also no reason why we can't equally be getting winter-like weather (such as what we are seeing just now) at this time of the year in October although personally, it would have actually been better if this cold weather had been saved for the actual winter (preferably at some time around Christmas) rather than us getting all of that just now as there has been many years in the past where that has then ended up being "it" for our winter.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was -4.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -6°C at Edinburgh Airport and -2.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
