In the end, a total of 11.4 mm of rain fell at Edinburgh Gogarbank during yesterday along with 12.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
However, today has been completely dry so far as at 9am this morning.
For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that takes this month's total so far to 22.6 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 80.6 mm and the total for this year so far to 501.0 mm as at 9am this morning.
For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, that takes this month's total so far to 18.8 mm, the total for this autumn so far to 68.2 mm and the total for this year so far to 492.6 mm as at 9am this morning.
Whilst yesterday was a very wet day by our standards, our experience from the latter part of April onwards shows that wet periods such as that, never last for long these days. Because of that, it wouldn't surprise me if we now returned to the same old story as before from now on, with Atlantic weather systems bringing only very small amounts of rain if anything at all, thereby resulting in this month being drier than average overall yet again.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
