There are a few hints of brightness this morning, but it is still mostly cloudy with the wind still gusting up to 42.3mph from the SW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.
There has also been a little bit of rain here at times, although a total of just 0.6 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with just 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
What is remarkable as well, is the manner which we keep on getting just very small rainfall totals even though there has been a massive wall of rain on the radar maps just to the west of here and very close by for the last few days. As Jerry has said, this is causing a lot of problems in the west of Scotland whereas there are parts of the east of Scotland which have been in near drought conditions for quite a while now, which could therefore really do with getting some much needed rainfall now, and which still isn't getting that rainfall which is badly needed there. On that note, I don't recall ever seeing such a vast contrast in fortunes over such a short distance when it comes to rainfall.
However, it is very mild yet again, and the temperature at 8am this morning was 13.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
