A damp and dreary start to this morning and yet for what is supposed to be quite a major event, this is turning out to be rather a damp squib and a major disappointment (this after all, is one of the most boring parts of the country when it comes to our weather with very little ever happening so I shouldn't be surprised by that in any way).
According to the latest radar maps, the rain appears to be already clearing away and yet, the amounts which we have had from that have been small once again with just 1.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens. Nevertheless, this still does at least mean that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.
The wind has died down quite a lot here as well so with the rain already clearing away, this just leaves us in yet another borefest of yet another grey, overcast and depressing grey nothingness with nothing actually happening.
After a very warm and sticky night, the temperatures are at least dropping a little bit although it's still warmer out there just now than what it should be at this time of year. Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
