After a decent start to today with some good amounts of sunshine at times, the heavens then suddenly opened during the early part of this afternoon with a couple of very heavy showers which was torrential at times.
As at 4pm this afternoon, a total of 4.0 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
As a result of this afternoon's showers, a total of 0.6 mm of rain has recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbak as at 4pm this afternoon, along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where today will now go down as an official rain day as a result.
Today's maximum temperature was 13.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.7°C st the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for all three of my local stations, is rather disappointing even for this time of year.
However, it got even colder when those showers came along this afternoon and so the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was just a very chilly 9.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
