So far this morning, we have something which we haven't actually seen all that often during this summer in this part of the world. I am of course, referring to a bright and sunny start to the day which so far as at 8am this morning, has resulted in a total of 1.6 hours of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
However, there has also been a total of 0.2 mm of rain which has been recorded for today so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8am this morning, with Edinburgh Gogarbank remaining dry up until now. That may well have been caused by a shower of rain which passed through here during the early hours of this morning, although that is more likely to just be down to condensation in this case as the radar maps have shown no signs of any showery activity in this area at that time.
Last night's overnight temperature was 8.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so last night was chilly once again although tonight is likely to be much milder, thanks to the impending arrival of ex-hurricane Debby.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
