This is not turning out to be much of an "unsettled" spell of weather at the moment, in the way that it was supposed to be (at least in this part of the world, anyway).
There was a passing shower during this afternoon, but this wasn't even enough to dampen the ground and now, it looks as though today is going to go down as yet another technically dry day even though this wasn't forecast to be the case today.
This is just one of many occasions during this summer so far, where rain which has been forecast has either failed to materialise altogether, or come in a much smaller amount than what had been forecast and as long as this continues to be the case, we are staring down the barrel of yet another substantially drier than average month this time, yet again.
There is still some cloud around, but there is now an increasing amount of sunshine coming through with a total of 2.2 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
Having said all of that though, the temperatures have been rather disappointing for this time of the year today. Even with that though, the temperatures have started to recover a bit once again during the last couple of hours, and haven't yet fully peaked for today. Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 16.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
