Light rain now at Heathrow. First time I've seen it rain here since 30th May, I was on holiday last week.

All over it seems for our location north of Portland, Dorset. Not a drop. Maybe another day next year for some proper summer thunderstorms coming across the Channel.

Hmm, nothing at all reached the ground from that first batch of showers, despite having "yellow rain" on the radar (3mm/hour rate). I'm guessing because it seems to be a high cloudbase that it all evaporated on the way down.

I think the plume has been cut off and we have a bubble of warm uppers over us, any storms I suspect will have to be home grown

There is a large and developing shower heading in the IOW direction. We are on its western fringe with some light rain.

The sky is quite leaden around abouts though so this evening could prove interesting.

There's a trough that's meandering it's way ENE from NW France that's pepping up the convection. I'd still go for the far SE for the main threat (far E Sussex, Kent, Essex, Suffolk).

Just 1 or 2 drops here; heavy rain above but evaporating before hitting the ground. Some impressive altocumulonimbus clouds; cloud bases must be approx 15,000 feet (4572 m).

Things could change a lot later, perhaps with lower cloud bases bringing heavy rain and thunder (but still Ac Cb clouds).

Flying ants are now flying away. They must be sensing rain coming as their nests would be flooded.

Folkestone rain deflector still in good working order at the moment with rain passing to my south and to my north, only getting 1.0 mm so far. Going to need a LOT more than that to revive my lawn.

Distant thunder here in Chi.. to the east of us, it looks like it is chucking it down...just a smattering of heavy drops of rain...but beautiful clouds...our lawn will remain parched!

Storm just passed through, looked worse to the north of my location.  2.6mm took day's total to 11.0mm.

Just checked the radar to see if anything is near to me and was struck by the impressive line of storms marching through Germany and extending up to Denmark - put's our little line of showers to shame!

Edit: Just being clipped by a shower now, can see a storm off to our North West with lightning flickering on the horizon

Spectacular lightning  display for those in the London area. I saw it developing overhead and it must be hammering down in Kent now

Already looking pretty convective around here. It would be nice to actually get a decent thunderstorm this year, so my fingers are crossed.

The radar shows the storms around Manchester well! There are also storms in the vicinity of Middlesbrough and some near Dumfries.

Meanwhile down here in the SE, there are some potent showers (40mm an hour rainfall rate) but as yet they're generally not electrified. I daresay they will be soon though!
