The month of July 2018 was a warmer than average month overall, a sunnier than average month overall and a drier than average month as this incredibly decent summer goes on. This was particularly true at the beginning of the month when at one point in time, it had looked as though this month could end up being both our driest July on record and our sunniest July on record. However, it has been cloudier, wetter and more unsettled towards the end of the month which meant that in the end, it wasn't as dry and sunny as it had looked as though it would be for a while at the beginning of the month.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Just as the media decided drought and heat were 'an issue' it is no longer an issue here with above average rain this month and year is near normal at -30mm
Also the maximum temperatures have not been anything noteworthy here.
30C is not that unusual as we can get very hot air from Vale of York quite easily despite being fairly close to the Sea and at about 700 feet.
Mean temp for year so far is 8.3C (-0.4C) so this month being above normal is still more than countered by the below average Winter and Spring.
