Woken by the rain alarm on the WS. It's raining cats and dogs apparently. Rain rate of 135.6mm/HR which is still more than 50mm less than Friday night. Thunder, lightning and strong winds and a temp down to 15C. Just hope it buggers off like it was forecasted to do.

A bright and sunny start to this morning has resulted in 1.8 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, but there is now a lot more in the way of cloud spilling over from the west which has already started to obscure that sunshine.

Last night was quite cool and the overnight minimum temperature was 11.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 9.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 15.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Finally, I have an exceptionally busy day ahead which means that I won't be able to post my usual lunchtime update on this thread at just after 12 noon. However, I should be able to post again at just after 5pm as normal, with normal service on these threads resumed after that.

Fine and sunny and warming up at 22.1 C despite the brisk west breeze. Even missed out on the trough feature earlier on this morning, seems that the Folkestone Rain Deflector worked very well once again . . .

It is also very windy here as well with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank of up to 35.4mph from the SSW and then from the SW as at 5pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 18.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 20.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 17.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 17.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A very oppressive early evening at Le Pelerin. Mid level cloud has come over but it’s still 32C at 8pm with dewpoint up around 18C.

31C tomorrow with a bit of cloud, then we’re modelled to get 33, 36, 36, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32...
