Same to Lower Stoke have no weather station but being so flat it may have went down to same -17C as yours or even -18C.  The garden I will be having unfortunately have gravel and wooden patio so I plan to remove it and put grass back as I want to do the recording.  Gravel stones give too much heat and stay warm in winter with snow won't settled on it. I know from my house here used to have shingles half driveway in the 80's and the snow always melt quickly.  I didn't see much of the garden because there were trees when neighhours have none so all so I will remove it and leave over 1m foot trunk to hold my thermometer instead of the post as the trunk is in the middle of the garden.

According to Trevor Harley's weather site Raunds has:

Impressive! Interesting to see, then, that if the current records were to hold Brogdale wouldn't be the first to get both in a year. Incidentally a year where the highest was just 27.8... imagine the furore on here if that were to happen again!

Back home again. Left Covehithe beach and the car said 25C peaked at 33C on the way home before a huge Anvil out to the west blocked out the Sun. My WS has it at 31.2C right now with my max of 36.3C.

On the other side of the Channel the highs today (based on SYNOP stations only) were

Belgium 

Ghent 38.2C

Netherlands

Arcen & Westdorpe 38.1C

So just missed out on a national record in both countries unless there are other stations which did get higher. Although the Dutch figure is a tie for the all time July temperature record.

However the Netherlands did break its highest minimum temperature record last night

Lille in NE France recorded 37.6C today which is a city record.

Minimums last night were 21.0C at St James Park and 20.6C at Langdon Bay.

Although next week is cooler overall compared to what was being shown; I for one have had a great summer fix. To be honest the last couple of days have been awful on the tube to and from work so it’s great to have some fresher weather.

When the rain arrived today everyone was so excited. It reminded me of when the first snowfalls arrive in winter.

Would love the summer to finish as a record breaker now!

I'm guessing someone's pressed the wrong button, because on the met office sites regional section, I usually get the max for yesterday for this region. Only today it's displaying yesterday's LOWEST max. Shoeburyness wins that with 30.3C, unless of course, they're waiting to confirm final figures.

Those Met Office UK Extremes stats have a habit of messing up a few times each month, somehow or other.

Annoying, as that's the resource I refer to for my long-term highest and lowest UK temp statistics.

28.8 C at my nearest weather station. Warmest day in south Edinburgh on Friday for years

34.7C, at Tibenham, at least according to the "warmest in the UK" bit on the Met Office site yesterday.

Had to be really, it was the inaugural Norfolk Day!

For Norwich is hard to get extreme temps due to coastal line going almost all around it except getting hot flow from the SW or S but because London and the SE wasn't reaching 37C to give Norwich 37C.  Most cases I know Norwich often get up to 32C per year while London get around 33C often.

Bumping this up.

the hottest uppers will push away this afternoon but we should easily get to low 30s widely

Not only the temperature but the humidity is much higher today. My PWS is currently at 25.9C with 61% humidity - a dew point of about 18C. Other PWSs in the area are as high as 19C.
