Another thunderstorm rolling in here! 

Wow! This really is something amazing. Never seen anything like it!

I had to go out in that lot and clear the blocked downpipes (water butt take-offs) that were turning our gutters into waterfalls. How we still have power, I don't know!

Sadly though, there's still nothing happening back here in Edinburgh. There has been some storms to the east of here over the North Sea throughout the day which have extended up into Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and there is also another line of storms over on the west of Scotland which are fringing into the Glasgow area (hopefully, David M. Porter won't be seeing any houses in his vicinity being struck by lightning this time, just like what happened the last time that there was any thunderstorms in the Glasgow area).

Here in Edinburgh, we are right at an equal distance between those two areas of storms where it continues to be bone dry with nothing much happening.

The real action has been to the east of here. Nigg just 3 miles to the east has logged 22.8mm since 4pm whereas I have only had 7.2mm and Westhill four miles to the west has had 3.8mm.

Wish it would all clear off so I could see the blood moon. Sadly we're stuck with this for the foreseeable.

No electrical action, but we had a downpour about 45 mins ago lasting 10 minutes or so.

The NetWeather rainfall radar has a 'Lightning' option (recorded lightning flashes?) and the whole eastern side of England is a mass of symbols.

I had completely forgotten about that lunar eclipse but even though it's bone dry here in Edinburgh, I'm still not getting to see that anyway as we have entered into yet permacast hell with it being very hazy.

Nothing here bar a few spots of rain. The pretty potent looking showers rapidly fizzled before they reached here. They're purpose wasn't to give me rain, rather to ensure there was enough cloud to ensure I never saw anything of the lunar eclipse.

We had a sharp shower early this morning and that was it!  

Where are you lot getting your storms from?  Do you all have Amazon Prime?  My forecast just hasn’t delivered!

I'm sure that not long ago, you said in another thread not so long ago during your recent absolute drought in Aberdeen that you would rather be seeing it raining, than seeing just another permacast hell and grey nothingness since that rain at least serves some sort of purpose.

Yet now that you have that rain which is still probably very badly needed in your area, you aren't happy with that either.

Last year, we only had the one thunderstorm during the entire summer and now, we are doing better than that already as this is now the second night in a row that there has been a thunderstorm here.

Impressive thundery showers this evening have given 9.2mm here so far.

The first storm at 7.15pm was accompanied with a strong gust front that easily gave 55-60 mph gusts fron my vantage point on the cliffs at Capel le Ferne.

Some impressive sporadic lightning discharges too at times.

Peak rain rate was 41.4mm/hr just after 10pm.

Temperatures have dropped markedly from the daytime high of 30.3c to just 17.4c at the moment.

It’s now suddenly added a whole load more showers for tomorrow afternoon across S England but I’ve been left feeling very sceptical of its convection initiation threshold!

I wonder if I’ll even see much from the squally front early tomorrow. Surely all this hot weather won’t go out without a single bang?

I didn't want grey nothingness though, I wanted the sky to clear so I could see the moon but it didn't happen so another disappointment.

I'm posting now because I can't sleep as room is like an oven and can't open a window as the rain has got heavier. Rain rate peaked at 162.2mm/hr and yesterday was first day since March to clock up 10mm.

No ovrrnight storms here!  But we did just have half an hour of steady rain!
