27 C at 1500 at Edinburgh Airport. Our second hottest after 28 C in June. Hot southerly wind blowing smoke and ash from wildfires to the south of the city. More like Portugal here today than Scotland!

On the other hand, the temperature of 28ºC which you have reported for June was actually recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank on 28 June 2018 and not at Edinburgh Airport.
I know that Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Gogarbank are right next to each other, but they are different stations with each of those stations having its own data set.
Apart from that figure for Edinburgh Airport which you have reported though, I can also report that the temperature at 3pm was 26.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 22.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Anyway, I was going to be posting here anyway, and the reason for that is because a total of 8.7 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This means that although the last two hours haven't been completely sunny, what we have had so far, has still been enough to ensure that this month will now go down as being a sunnier than average month at Edinburgh Gogarbank since this month's total for that station is now greater than the 1981-2010 July average for that station.
EDIT:
I can report that the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank has also reached 27.0ºC as at 4pm this afternoon which now makes today, the second hottest day of 2018 so far at that station so far, as well as the hottest day of this month so far at that station.
