Rather incredibly, we are now experiencing something here in Edinburgh which we had never actually experienced during this summer so far in this part of the world, and that is a third consecutive sunny start to a morning in a row as the Sun is beaming through my east facing bedroom and living room windows just now. Of course, it is too early in the morning for there to be any recorded sunshine during today so far, but quite a decent total could well be on the cards once again if this continues throughout the day, which could be enough to confirm this month's status as a sunnier than average month at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
However, it is also cooler at this time of the morning than what it had been forecast to be and so, it is going to take some doing for today to end up being warmer than yesterday as it is being forecast to be. Meanwhile, the temperature at 5am this morning was 10.3ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.0ºC at the the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. I have no idea why it is so much warmer at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh than at my other two local stations, but that is quite a massive temperature difference between three stations which are so close together. However, I can only report the data which is actually there, and this is what it is telling me just now.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
