Mods may not agree. But thought with the potential July record under threat and a outside chance of the all time record going it would be good to have a dedicated thread.

Maximum temperatures so far today are 21C. We will need to be seeing 24-26C by 9am to have a chance today.

Does anyone remember 2003 record day and what the temperature was at 9am. I seem to remember 29C.

I remember in 2003 was 17C at 5am when I got up, 21C at 7am, 26C 8am, 28C 9am, 31C 10am, 34C 11am, 36C 12am and slowly rose to 37-38C and reached it peak at 5am at 38.6C. The one in July 1st 2015 was a day I would get a 40C but clouds ruined it as it was 21C at 5am, 26C at 7am, 29C 8am, 32C 9.30am, 34C 10.30am, clouds arrived and dropped to 30C and stay there until after 2pm when it rose back to 36.5C here. To get a 38C max today you need to see 30C at 9.30am or 32C for 40C. This always the correct way to find out the max from living in Cyprus and using the 9.30am time to know what the outcome which sometimes work in the UK if sunny all day.

This morning was 15.5C and now 23C at 7.30am. i think the dry ground are preventing it very warm last night as forecast.

Well done - this thread is good for tacking the exceptional weather. Be interesting to see what we end up with.

Stiff wind from the east here, it has shot up to 21C by 9am but doubt it will get over 25C as it has stalled already.

Quite a lot of high cloud around here in London and it certainly doesn't have the feel of a scorcher, compared to Monday.

convective cloud is building which will depress the temps, but I suspect showers will be north of London, so it may clear up in the south and temps will shoot up this afternoon
