It’s really hard to believe that some of you have rain and cloud!  We do have a bit of cloud here but it’s mostly sunny and 26c.

26c, sunny spells. Sad news that RAF Linton-on-Ouse is closing - means we'll no doubt lose another local weather station.

Almost completely overcast now - convective infill. Mainly castellanus, no congested yet. Doesn’t look like the sort that will easily melt away so I suspect temps may have peaked here now.

Yesterday the heat was awful, today it’s more comfortable and it’s cooler in the house. It’s now 27c with increased cloud but still sunny.

I think this week is the revenge of East Anglia after their days of North Sea permacast in June. Unusual to see so many of the absolute maxes on the models concentrated in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambs. I note they don't have much cloud, unlike London and the home counties.

The cold front has moved through here: Winds veered to NW'ly, temp. has dropped to 20.3 C - coolest at this time for a few weeks here? Feels great to be cool for a time - especially ahead of the next pulse of heat and humidity! Pressure @ 1014mb.

31.9C max earlier but now dropped a couple of degrees with some cloud cover.

Local paper has a story about "panic buying" of fans. Buying fans in this weather seems eminently sensible to me and the story is really about shops running out of stock.

Cold front here now so temperatures dropping somewhat. Humidity still on the high side - it's not cleared through yet.

Cloudy with a few spots of rain over the hillier NW'ern parts of Sheffield. Otherwise dry as a bone.

Like yesterday it looks like the cumulus may clear from the South in late afternoon leaving a bright evening. I hope so:

Quite a bit of showery rain this afternoon but doesn`t seem to have recorded much on the rain gauge for some reason.

Still cloudy and dull.

The Sun has come through a bit more as this afternoon has gone on, but there are still just 3.8 hours of sunshine which have been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon (although I would expect the sunshine total for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh to be a bit higher than that, once that total becomes available).

Today's maximum temperature was 19.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 20ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 20.9ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so that today has ended up being quite a bit cooler than yesterday, though still fairly warm nevertheless.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 19.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 19.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
