The rain from earlier on is now clearing away to our east although it is still overcast and muggy.

A total of 13.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 9.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes yesterday, the wettest day of this month so far by quite a long way with far more rain falling during yesterday alone, than what had fallen during this entire month so far up until that point in time.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 15.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 15.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

 

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Just for a change, we have a bright and sunny morning here in Edinburgh with a total of 1.4 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

However, there has also been some rain during the early hours of this morning. This has resulted in 0.8 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where today will now go down as another official rain day as a result.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 13.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 13.3ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so that last night actually ended up being a bit cooler than of late.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 15.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Cloudy again and fresher after last night's cold front brought 15mm of rain in 24 hrs up to 0900 today. 17 C at 1100 which is 5 C lower than this time yesterday.

Monthly total is around 22mm here now

So far, a total of 3.0 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon. After a bright and sunny start to the day though, the clouds quickly built up almost as soon as I had submitted my last post on this thread as the July permacast has recommenced once again with nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank during the last two hours up to 12 noon.

In addition to that, today has a much fresher feel to it that than of late, and it is a lot cooler than what it was yesterday. The temperature at 12 noon was 17.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Sunny intervals, occasional light showers - the last one a little heavier and managed to wet the ground. Light westerly winds, 23.5 C @ 73% RH .. a 2 C drop in temp. with the showers. Pressure steady @ 1013mb.

It’s really hard to believe that some of you have rain and cloud!  We do have a bit of cloud here but it’s mostly sunny and 26c.
