Just as I predicted at the end of yesterday's thread, this morning has started off on yet another depressing and soul destroying note with yet another dull, grey and overcast nothingness and permacast hell to begin the day with thanks to that easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea yet again during last night.

The end result of this is that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Contrary to what Jerry has just said, there was still a NE wind present at Edinburgh Airport at 8am according to the latest data from weathercast.co.uk. That wind is only light just now and so, it will generally feel quite calm. Nevertheless, I'm sure that it will only be a matter of time before that wind picks up and once again, causes the temperatures to refuse to rise to any sort of meaningful levels in this part of the world as it generally being doing recently.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 11.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 11.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 13.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 12.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There is a shower chance for me tonight, which MIGHT buy my very parched looking lawn a bit of time, but knowing my luck it'll all totally bypass my location.

Feeling fresher here and my hayfever isn't as bad - enjoying the interval before the main performance, lol! It could all go bang if we import the really hot and humid stuff from the continent, but I kept thinking that in '76 .. but then high pressure just kept building quickly back in and weakened/pushed back any troughs.

23.2 C atm - a few degrees down at this time of day than the last week or so at least!

For a change, the cloudy start to today didn't last for long with the Sun soon getting to work and resulting in 3.9 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

There is still a breeze from the NE in evidence but so far, that isn't blowing as strongly just now as it has been doing in other recent days. That has allowed it to get a bit warmer than of late so that the temperature at 12 noon was 19.4ºC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 19.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There are also no signs of any rain in this part of the world either. Nevertheless, there is still a breeze from the NE around and as a result of that, the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh is once again refusing to rise to any sort of decent level (the temperature has even dropped a bit there during the last hour thanks to that breeze).

A completely sunny afternoon has now resulted in a total of 8.9 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 21.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 20ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 19.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which means that today will now go down as the warmest day of this month so far at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 20.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.3ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
