There were some tentative signs of it brightening up for a while and just to show that it's not quite so bad further inland, the still rather dismal total (which is probably still better than what it would be right here where I live in the north of Edinburgh) of 48 minutes of sunshine have now been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
However, those tentative signs of brightness didn't last for long here and we remain very much in the same permacast hell as before with yet more constant grey skies to endure, and yet more of that easterly muck.
Today's maximum temperature was 17.4ºC at Swanston, 16.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15ºC at Edinburgh Airport and just 14.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for all of these stations, is very disappointing for this time of year and a massive let-down from yesterday's heat.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 15.6ºC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 15.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.1ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
