This is becoming painful now. Excuse the language but I wish this constant, endless heat would feck off.

(I still plan to get proper air-conditioning installed for the longer term, but apparently it requires an outdoor breaker switch and a dedicated 20A circuit. It's fiddly stuff, as the electrics are ancient in my house!)
I'm glad I called off going to the wolf centre today, as an aside (I had to make the decision earlier in the week.) I see it's 28C in the Reading area and under the searing strong sun it'd have been unbearable from my POV. The models have been consistently underplaying maxima down here, both in Reading and at home in Kent, for days on end. Today is a good example: forecast high 19C, but it's 23C outside.
In a way, this spell reminds me of the classing blocking easterly scenario in winter: a reinforcing block that keeps the breakdown at bay. The models will always show breakdowns at the 7 to 10 day range, but as with winter 2010 the breakdown is just a mirage. Inevitably when it does eventually break down the models will suddenly flip at a relatively short range!
