This morning started off on a promising note as there was enough clear skies around during the early hours of this morning for me to be able to see the first sunrise which I have been able to see for quite a long time. However, it wasn't long after that, that it then clouded over from the west to leave us with that same old story yet again, of no recorded sunshine at all as at 8am this morning.

Meanwhile, the showers which I reported just after midnight on the opening post of this thread have resulted in 1.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8am this morning. This in turn means that today will now go down as an official rain day at that station as a result.

However, those showers completely missed the area where Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport are located, and this means Edinburgh Gogarbank is still completely dry so far today as at 8am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperatures were 11.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 10.9ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 12.6ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 12.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Sadly it's gone all overcast with temperatures struggling to reach 16 C here at Kent as we are STILL stuck under this north east airflow. I, for one, will welcome this westerly airflow.

Not much has changed since earlier on as our annual June permacast (as it has become these days) goes on. In fact, there has been the odd spot of rain on the odd occasion earlier on, although that has never really came to anything. Just recently, a few little pieces of blue sky have appear with the Sun making the odd valiant attempt to be seen through all of that grey nothingness. As yet though, there is still nothing in the way of sunshine which has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, as at 12 noon.

It's not all that warm and the temperatures are only around the 13ºC mark, although it feels a lot warmer than that when you're walking around in it.

The Sun has broken through a lot more as the afternoon has gone on, and a total of 2.1 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank although there is still a lot of cloud around which continues to blot out the Sun at times.

As the Sun has come out, it has also got a little bit warmer and so, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 19.1ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

June continues to go down the toilet with another dismal depressing day of subarctic grot. Did try to brighten up in the morning but filled in again after barely half an hour of sunshine had been recorded and the permacast has remained rooted in place throughout the afternoon while it broke up elsewhere.

While it did reach 15.9C earlier it is now down to a thoroughly deplorable 11.5C. It is also dull and dark and looks like threatening rain but nothing on the radar. I’d rather be outdoors on a dark but crisp and cold November evening than in this. It’s just vile

Evening

A disappointing day with persistent cloud here in Folkestone that has recently cleared to unbroken sunshine in the last 30 minutes thanks to a clearance from the NE. At work in West Kent it was a drizzly afternoon that turned into a spell of light rain at 4pm.

Despite the cloudy and breezy day a maximum temperature of 18.8c was achieved just after 3pm.

There has been a few cloudier periods during this evening but in the end, it all ended up on a clear and sunny note with a total of 4.5 hours of sunshine being recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That isn't all that great of course, but it is better than what we have been seeing during the last few days.

Today's maximum temperatures were 19.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which is up a bit on yesterday's values.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm tonight was 13.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 13.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with quite a sharp drop in the temperature during the last hour or so under those clear skies.
