Last night wasn't as ridiculously cold as the previous night, but today still started off on a cool note with single figure temperatures to start the day once again.

However, today has also started off on a rather dull note and over the last few hours, the temperatures have once again been refusing to rise with that being the story of this so-called "summer" so far.

As at 12 noon, the temperature here in Edinburgh was therefore still stuck at a really abysmal (for this time of year) 12.5°C.

After a promising start with some brightness, cloud increased during the course of the morning and is now overcast with spitty rain.

A rather underwhelming 15.4 C & 87% H under a brisk W breeze. Don't think I'll be breaking out the garden chair today.

Weather appears to be playing ball for a change. After the brilliant weekend it was cloudy today - the opposite of what has been typical for so much of the last 3 years.

Then mid-afternoon saw the cloud clear to give a nice sunny evening Passed the 70-hour mark already which took until the 28th to be reached in 2007 and 23rd in 2012

Here in Edinburgh, there has been more in the way of sunshine during this afternoon and evening, and it has even been slightly warmer than of late here as a result.

Even with that though, the temperatures have still been rather disappointing for this time of the year with a maximum temperature of just 15.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm BST (19:00 UTC) this evening was around 13°C here in Edinburgh.
