Overnight rain has turned a bit sleety before clearing away for now, but our frost-free horror show goes on after the temperatures once again, refused to drop during last night.

Since 9am yesterday morning, a total of 20.2 mm of precipitation has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 17.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as this thoroughly wet and miserable month of February which we are currently experiencing, goes on.

It is also still rather windy (though not as windy as it was at the weekend) with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank during the night still getting up to 37.9mph from the WSW.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 1.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 3°C here in Edinburgh.

Here in North Northumberland it is really gloomy and dark, blizzard conditions, horizontal snow, gusty winds, temp 1.3 C, dew -1 C, not much settling except on surrounding hills.

A very bright day with good sunny spells and only scattered fast moving cumulus. It's only that nagging brisk westerly wind that is making the current 7.8 c feel particularly fresh. However, since no rain or snow (what does the latter look like?) had fallen yet, things are drying up very nicely in the 55% h, sun and wind.

It is actually making for a perfect laundry drying day for the local home makers.

The pleasant-looking weather tempted me outside for a while, during which I realised that it was perishing cold and still flippin' windy.

Mind you, as Ian has commented, it's been great weather for drying things out, including the garden.  But it looks from the forecasts that the coming week will be thoroughly wet again.

There has been the odd occasional bit of sunshine during today but in the end, the rather mediocre total of just 48 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

There has been some further wintry showers during today which have fallen as a mxture of rain, sleet and snow. These haven't been anything as potent as what they were during yesterday, but they have still added to a rather unpleasant feel about today as the wind has continued to gust up to a maximum of 46.0mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

As at 9pm tonight, those showers have resulted in a total of 3.0 mm of precipitation being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am this morning, along with 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.

Today's officially recorded maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 3.7°C.

The earlier showers appear to have largely died away for now but with there still being too much wind around, the temperatures are once again refusing to drop and so, the temperature at 9pm tonight was still at around 3°C here in Edinburgh.
