In contrast to recent mornings, this morning has got off to a dull, overcast, dreary, depressing and soul destroying note after some heavy rain during the night which was brought about by ex-Hurricane Lorenzo.
That particular event over the course of last night and the early hours of this morning produced a total of 9.4 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 9.4 mm of rain at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
With all of that going on, last night was much milder than the two nights which preceded it. This means that last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 7.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, whereas last night's lowest half-hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Airport (which I have taken from the wundergound site) was 8°C.
That has also resulted in this morning being milder than of late and so, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 10°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
