Once again, this summer has gone completely down the toilet pan here in Edinburgh and it is raining as I write, although this does at least mean that this morning's weather is a bit more "interesting" for a change.

The result of this is that a total of 1.8 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning along with 1.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That comes in addition to the 0.2 mm of rain which fell during last night at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and this means that at long, long last, today will finally go down as only the first official rain day of this month at both of those stations.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which for all three of my local stations, is a lot warmer than those single figures temperatures which we have been seeing during other recent nights.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was 12.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

0.2mm here but looks like piddling on and off all day.
Quite annoying I have one last field of hay not baled - due to *complications* it was not cut a couple of days sooner when I wanted.
The rest of it is good and quantity much higher than last year.

Overcast but not too gloomy, calm, dry.

16*C; 74%RH.

1020.0mb steady.

The temp. has hardly changed in the last 12 hours, no wind, unchanging cloud cover, no rain, atm. pressure unchanging. I suppose this is what johncs refers to as boring weather (Hi John) - I guess that I would also get pretty bored with it if it went on too long.

Mind you, with no rain, no burning uncomfortable sunshine, a pleasant temperature, and no wind, the conditions are absolutely perfect for working outdoors - just as good as being indoors - so I'm grateful for that.

Rather gloomy and overcast but continued dry. At 16.3 c & 76% isn't exactly Summer-like for this time of the year despite a gentle S breeze, but is pleasantly comfortable indoors.

No sign of summer in NW England. Drab, dull and overcast in Stockport with drizzle earlier in the morning. Then sun tried to break through but failed.

Gloomy cloud layer and 15.6C, a day of fake rain so far - which has barely damped any surface.

Well if you think that's bad, you certainly wouldn't want to be here in Edinburgh just now (although it is at least a bit drier back in your more normal surroundings in Aberdeen).

Here, today has been wet and miserable throughout the day. It has hardly ever stopped raining since I first got up this morning, and it's still raining just now as I write.

You at least, got to see the Sun trying to break through for a while, but we haven't even had that here today and so, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 3pm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, a total of 5.8 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 3pm this afternoon, along with at least 6.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, the temperatures have also been generally refusing to rise here during today and so, the temperature at 3pm this afternoon was around 16°C here in Edinburgh.

Interestingly my destination (Alexandria VA) had 87mm of rain 3 hours yesterday causing extensive flooding. Today looks glorious.
