Surprised only one person has responded to this thread.

I like watching some of the old BBC forecasts. In fact, I may post a link to this thread on my Facebook weather page later

Yep great addition to the forum thanks Kev. For those that are interested in the past, present and future.

I like looking at some of the older forecasts, shows how dire some of the previous winters have been

This thread made me realise I can relive my youth through BBC forecasts of the past. I remember a number of those forecasts vividly and they take me straight back, rather like a tune on the radio, the smell of cheap cider or the humming of a suburban lawnmower.

There are two I must hunt down - I'm sure they're in your archive but was too busy looking at McCaskill's 1991 snow forecast:

A forecast in early July 1994 showing a secondary high coming in to replace another retreating into the continent, which takes me back to the green lane running up the hill to an old girlfriend's house in that marvellous summer that was unfairly overshadowed by 1995.

The countryfile forecast right at the start of the June 1995 anticyclonic spell: I clearly remember watching it at a friend's house in Shropshire the morning after a heavy night to mark the end of my A-levels, opening with a promise of some summer weather at last, and ending with thunderstorms at the end of the week that never came.

I see that some of the old magnetic BBC symbols are currently on ebay. Brings back memories.

Only just seen this thread. Wonderful resource - especially for the doubters who don't believe that we used to get more snow - and this period covers a less snowy era than the preceding 20 years !
