Up to September, 1929 had been a very dry year for England and Wales with just 63% of the expected January-September rainfall. October saw a turnaround and the last three months and especially November and December were complete washouts. They were so wet that the last 3 months contributed to 56% of the rainfall total for 1929, compare that to the first three months of 1929 which contributed only 10%


March 1929 is the 2nd driest March on record for England and Wales


September is the 10th driest September on record for England and Wales 


November 1929 is the 4th wettest November on record for England and Wales



December 1929 is the 6th wettest December on record for England and Wales

I done one of my historic videos on this event once. Some of the charts were simply shocking for that late autumn/early winter period. The rain didn't even let up in the new year as January 1930 was much wetter than average too. It wasn't until February that things started to dry out under a more anticyclonic pattern.


Plus it was during and right after the Wall Street Crash too. Must have been a horrific time for the people back then!

Not only that Kev but according to your Cold daily spells list.
From Feb 11th-19th it also had the coldest ave daily CET spell of the entire 20th century.
