Just a reminder that the new season's fixtures are out tomorrow morning.

I'm sure that Man Utd will get a comfortable last day fixture like they always do, most likely against a team struggling at the bottom, Blackpool at home probably.

ROFLMAO

What are the Lotto numbers for Saturday?

Scum U's record of last-day opponents is either the most amazing of coincidences or a downright fix.

Manure also start off with home tie - again - against newly promoted Newcastle.

Arsenal have an easy opener away to Liverpool (), whilst Chelsea get a gentle start to the season, too, opening with games against West Brom, Wigan, Stoke, West Ham, Blackpool

Liverpool play Arsenal, City & Manure in 3 of their first 5 games, so that's our challenge over well before the end of September

We don't face Liverpool until Nov 27. Should be an easy game though as Liverpool won't be under any pressure by that time - at least as far as the top of the table is concerned.

Just to labour the point, Scum U's final day fixture over the last several years have been/will be:

2011 - Blackpool (h)

2010 - Stoke (h)

2009 - Hull (a)

2008 - Wigan (a)

2007 - West Ham (h)

2006 - Charlton (h)

2005 - Southampton (a)

Looks like I was right, unfortunately.

To make it worse, the rest of the big 4 have tricky away matches on the last day. Chelsea are at Everton, Liverpool are at Aston Villa and Arsenal are at Fulham.

Liverpool fans worst nightmare? No wonder his club and national form has gone down the pan.

Quote:

Gerrard told Spanish media: 'It is likely that I'll be in Madrid next season. I'm aware of the club's offer so maybe we'll see each other in Madrid. I can't say anymore.
'I'm just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after the move.'

Would he be missed on current form? Sell him and replace with better, should not be hard to find and you might as well get some money for him, he is well passed it.

Which begs the question as to why he turned down a move to Chelsea a couple of years back. Nothing to do with the fact that he can't play with Lampard. Those two slot in so nicely into the England set-up

As an individual player, he's world class, and has put in some spellbinding performances for Liverpool over the years. However, there's always been that hint of his ego sometimes swelling a little too much at times and that the team has come to be too reliant on him. Liverpool without Gerrard seems unthinkable at the moment, but perhaps we need to take one step backwards to go one step forwards.

But I don't think any move away from Liverpool is for purely footballing reasons. It's open knowledge round these parts that a huge story's going to break after the World Cup's over. If he's going to need a new house, he could well be thinking he may as well have a whole new start outside the UK.

He's a Liverpool lad and winning the Premiership with your hometown club, where you've come through the ranks, is always going to be so much more special than winning the Premiership because you've moved to the club with the most money to throw around, a club that's simply effectively bought the trophy by totally distorting the transfer market. I'd say at the time he believed he had the time left in his career to win it with Liverpool (and came oh-so close in 2008/9).

Presumably the same one that has been kicking around on the Internet for the last few months.

Anyway, it's time for 'Stevie G' to leave Liverpool. He is now at or just passing his peak. He needs one big final payday and a championship medal. The latter won't be forthcoming anytime soon domestically, now that Laurel & Hardy have ruined the club. Which means a move to Madrid would be the obvious choice. More money, far better chance of achieving something.

I have obviously been living in a bubble for the last few months then as other than the sorry tale about the nightclub incidence I don'tknow of any other. I presume by the tone and the insinutation that it is a marital problem?

Whatever happens Gerrard should have won more than he has as a player and his loyalty to Liverpool up to now is a credit to him, but he should move on, get some cash in for his club and allow them to rebuild without him

Manure not interested in Joe Cole. Now seemingly a straight fight between Spurs and Arsenal. May explain why 'Arry has suddenly popped up in South Africa.

BBC Gossip column reporting that Arsenal interested in Liverpool's Ryan Babel.

If true, he should leap at the chance (and even accept a lower wage to do so). He's got the talent & class (having seen him play for Holland at u21 and full) but needs a manager who'll develop him into a more complete footballer, as Benitez seemed to just want finished article players in his first team at Anfield. Who better to develop a player than Wenger? In fact, Babel reminds me a lot of a young Thierry Henry and, if he went onto become half the player Henry that Wenger helped him develop into after a nightmare of neglect at Inter, Babel would a top, top player for Arsenal.

Then again, this story comes from caughtoffside.com, which is the football gossip equivalent of a GFS T+384 chart.

From the BBC Gossip Column (although again the source is caughtoffside.com, so pinch of salt time)

Spurs are also rumoured to be ready to make a bid for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick to return to White Hart Lane and are willing to offer Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko as part of the deal.

I'll bet they are!

I got rather depressed when I read that story earlier - I thought we'd seen the last of Carrick. Quite where bullockchops would play him is another question.

I'm much more interested in the GBP28.5m bid Spurs have reportedly made (and reportedly been accepted) to Palermo for Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani. Kjaer is certainly a good prospect - no doubt about that. Cavani ? Well we shall see.

Roy Hodgson confirmed as Liverpool boss. I wonder if he's the man to drag them out out of two decades of insignificance

Pathetic on some of the Liverpool forums calling him a retard, making fun of his speech impedent, stupid old c**t, not good enough for Liverpool, step backward from Benitez........

FFS, how pathetic of them. I`m really saddened to see so many slate this man on a very personal level.I hope he doesn`t get a poor reception by fans at Anfield on his first game. Is it his fault the club is being run by clowns?

What`s good enough for Liverpool? A club that has been in decline for decades, they need to wake up and smell the coffee. They have no money, they won`t get a Mourhino. Personally I think this is a great choice for Liverpool and I wish him well. I have nothing but respect for this man who always show humility and class. I really hope it all works out for him.

There's no excuse for such stupid abuse, but understand that it's just fans' huge sense of frustration with the way the club is being run, compounded by fear that such a low-profile managerial appointment is going to be the final straw that sees the few world class players that Liverpool have (Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano) decide that enough is enough. Additionally, many see him as a yes-man who won't rock the boat with the owners like Benitez did.

I agree with you, though, that Liverpool just aren't in a position to attract any sort of proven top class manager, given the near-bankrupt status, the idiots running the club and huge uncertaintly over ownership.

The two American scumbags are destroying our club with increasing effectiveness, and their dismantling of the club is going to drive down the price a possible buyer is willing to pay, whilst these parasites who live in financial dreamland still view the club as their golden ticket, valuing the club at at least twice its real value.

No more a low profile appointment than when Benitez was brought in. And that was during better times for Liverpool as far as the readies were concerned.

Meanwhile, I'm sure top of Roy's wish list now will be Bobby Zamora
