For anyone old enough to be remember, or just more generally for information, it is 40 years to the day since the eruption of Mount St Helens.
I went there for a visit in 2014 and I hadn't realised how wide an area was flattened by that lateral blast wave until I stood there
In this pic I think I am about 6 miles away and this area was devastated but is now regenerating as part of a strict conservation area
There is usually a small cumulus cloud above the crater showing it is still fairly hot in there
