Does it matter if one gets hit by a forty ton truck or a train?.

If that thing decided to go off, even at past estimates on size,I think we would be in dire trouble.

It's amazing how big this thing is.

Let's hope it sleeps soundly.

I see that Etna continues with its recent activity and is having another very active "episode" this evening

My understanding is that it doesn't sleep, in the sense of doing nothing.  It undergoes a very long process of "reloading" the magma chamber,

As the article says, the process is ongoing and the last eruption was around 640k years ago, with a cycle of around 700k years.

Unless you come up with an elixir of eternal life I don't think it's going to be a problem for you - or any of us.  More likely that the consequences of global warming will hit us first.

I'm guessing this was based on the 5+ magnitude quake in the vicinity on the 27th? There have been quite a few smaller quakes around the island in recent weeks so it is worth keeping an eye on.

Impressive photos. Sinabung seems to have been very active in recent times.

It's certainly been very active lately. It's danger zone has been extended;

Sadly it seems that Sinabung's latest eruption has killed at least 11 people, including a group of schoolchildren.

Are any of these big enough to impact on climates? If so, it's the absolute wrong time of year for us
