Our Android app should be launching in the next few days. The admin and business sides are complete, as is development. Stability and performance testing is going well and should be finished this weekend.

The app provides global forecasts, although the initial focus is on the UK and continental Europe. The forecast API we've built for it is, I think, pretty awesome and unique! It's global, with the ability to plug-in different models for different regions and lead times, all without the need to recompile the API or an put out an app update.

Other features include the Signal Premium feed, news and forecast updates similar to those on the website, and a great chart viewer. You can favourite charts and save them directly to your device, meaning they'll never be overwritten by newer updates.

Satellite imagery and rain radar are also included. Initially, the rain radar covers the UK, using the standard 1km resolution with 15-minute updates. I'm hoping to expand coverage fairly soon and introduce predictive rainfall based on radar returns, which will complement the model data.

I'm not planning an ad funded version, this will be subscription only. If take up is sufficient it will be rolled out to Apple devices too.

Sounds great Brian. Although I am a freeware type person I have an Android  phone and could easily be persuaded to subscribe to this. Is it likely to be possible to access the forum from it? Currently I only use the forum via my desktop PC but miss it when I am away on holiday although I should see it as a welcome respite from UIA I guess. đŸ˜‰. Look forward to trying it in the coming weeks.
