Conclusion
This month got off to a cool and unsettled start after a very hot, dry and sunny end to May but the second half of the month then brought in some very hot and dry weather which gave us our hottest June day on record here in Edinburgh.
In the end, this month was quite substantially warmer than average overall and is always the case now, it was yet another slightly drier than average month in terms of the actual rainfall amounts even though the number of official rain days was actually above average on this occasion.
Finally, the unsettled spell at the beginning of the month wasn't quite as dull as the one at the beginning of May but the hot spell later on in the month wasn't as sunny as the hot spell at the end of May. The overall result of this is that June 2026 was a slightly duller than average month in the end with two completely sunless days at the very time of the year when these should be hardest to come by due to it being the lightest period of the year around the time of the summer solstice.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
