By looking at this morning's cloud cover, I was more optimistic about the Sun breaking through today than I was even on the last two days. However, that didn't end up happening. Throughout today, there hasn't even been the slightest hint of any brightness and so, today is officially yet another completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
Until the beginning of this month, this year was very much a year in which the Sun just wouldn't stop shining but with the exception of a relatively sunny blip last weekend, this month is now making up for that in quite a big way. We're now more than halfway through this month, we have only just had over a third of our 1991-2020 October sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank during this month so far and the days are still rapidly shortening, resulting in there being less available sunshine per day as the month goes on.
As a result, it is now looking likely that our long run of sunnier than average months which we've seen throughout most of this year is about to come to an end this month unless we start to see a lot more sunshine from now on than what we've been seeing during this month so far with that starting to happen very quickly, otherwise time is very quickly going to run out for that.
Meanwhile, today's temperatures were very similar to yesterdays and as I write, the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 11°C.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
