From what I recall I went for 11.7C for this month - so I'm pretty close. 🙂🙂

In terms of temperature variation this is one of the most boring months I can remember. No extremes at either end of scale.

I prefer my 1997 style Octobers with 25c heatwaves followed by -8c frosts !

Hopefully November will deliver a bit more excitement for CET watching whatever the result should be

The Met Office October figures are in

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/data/download.html

The CET mean based on the average of daily (max+min)/2  comes out at 11.26C to 2 decimals

Bolty, Magda and Stormchaser all went for 11.2 and so a 3-way tie for the nearest estimate

Congrats to all those

Not much room on the podium this month - congratulations to Bolty, Magda and Stormchaser on their victory a virtual bottle of bubbly and some flowers are winging their way to you all!

Given that it was perilously close to a month that was actually cooler than average there has been some movement in the table as the CET was lower than many (myself included) expected. That said we had a very tight set of predictions and so as we go into the final 2 months of the year expect some cracking battles right to the end especially in mid table  - it's all to play for.

As I can't create a table at present here are the results in list form for now:
