Certainly memorable! 😂 What I didn't mention is that in addition to the earthquake, dust blanket, gale forces winds etc. a few days before leaving I fell down a gravel bank near the gorge (can't remember which) we stopped at on the way back from Preveli  palm forest. I put a spectacular gash in my left hand which kept me out of the garden (largely due to risk of infection) until today. 

Knossos Palace. We went there. We also went to another Minoan palace which was actually much less crowded and better value.
