25.9c was the max here today, actually surprised it wasn't a little higher but can't complain.

Diurnal range of 20.6c, pretty sure it was only 7 or so years ago I recorded my first 20+c day, seems easy now with the right conditions.

Yesterday was about 5C first thing but 11C this morning so soon warmed up and 23C briefly at 3pm

So April won't quite beat the 23.2C here on 25th in 2011.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as an incredible 23.7°C which isn't even all that far below the highest recorded temperature for there during the whole of last year and there's still a whole month to go until we even reach the start of the meteorological summer.

In addition to that, a total of 11.8 hours of sunshine has also been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Even as late as 8:30pm BST (19:30 UTC) this evening, the temperature here in Edinburgh was still at around 21°C so this could well be a very sticky night ahead and an uncomfortable one for sleeping.

Pleased to report that my local station, Swanston, recorded 24.1 C today. Amazing for the last day of April!

The temperature has now finally dropped back to around 15°C here in Edinburgh but it’s rather late at night now and it’s still feeling a bit muggy and humid.

Much the same as yesterday morning - calm and foggy, 7.6 / dew 6.4, and that's the low so far. Yesterday's low and high ended up as 6.7 and 19.3 respectively.

White Rabbits!!

Today, we have entered into what is actually only the final month of the meteorological spring although it has felt in recent days as though we're already well into the actual summer even though the start of that is still a whole month away from now.

Last night, it had thankfully cooled down by quite a bit with an overnight minimum temperature of 7.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today is once again starting off with plenty of hazy sunshine and only some high cloud around.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh.

After our bright and sunny start to today, it's now clouded over in Edinburgh and there is even some light rain and drizzle around which I don't recall as being part of today's forecast for here although that is still barely enough to dampen the ground in any way.

Meanwhile, the temperature is now up to around 14°C here in Edinburgh.

A high of 26.2c here so far in my small and urban back garden. And 24.8c at a local Met station just outside of town. Not sure if it is an April record for the region, but it can't be far off it either.

A very brief shower of large raindrops now as the weak cold front comes through. Heavier rain to our south and some lightning activity overnight around Belfast and SW Scotland

Fresher air moving in now

Mostly sunny but with a bit more in the way of high cloud to my west. Already at the 20 C mark and winds are light.

Managed a peak of 22.3 C at 2.15 pm yesterday but still felt surprisingly chilly in the NE breeze when I went for a bike ride along the coastal strip of Hythe, most likely on account of low dewpoint.

After a cloudier blip, the Sun is back out here in Edinburgh once again.

That sunshine is still very hazy in nature and as yet, there is still nothing to suggest that the air is actually any fresher just now.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh and rising once again.

Now, I can see it gradually feeling a bit fresher over time here in Edinburgh.

More cloud has moved in and on those odd occasions when the Sun still manages to pop out, it's no longer as hazy as it was this morning.

In addition to that, the temperatures are also refusing to rise any further than where they were a few hours ago, so it's already cooler than it was at this time yesterday.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh which is where we were about three hours ago when I last posted on here.

I think we have probably peaked now, albeit you never know... max so far was 27.8c here.

The cuckoo was a day early and started singing yesterday, they seem to be making a comeback hopefully, we had a few years without one.

Whew, looks like we escaped the heat here in the end - a big relief, and yes, we were jammy here on Sheppey! 😁

As I write this the MetO website still has a confident (but wrong) 27 high for today, and it reckons it should be 22 and sunny right now with a dewpoint of 11C. In reality it's overcast, 18.9 with a dewpoint of 14.6!

The GFS was better than the MetO today, with a high of 22 and more in the way of cloud, although it was nowhere near as cloudy as GFS forecast (it had 100% cloud from 10 AM onwards, which wasn't the case either).

The high ended up as 20.4 - warm, yes, but thankfully not as warm as either model had it. (As a heat-hater, I'm perfectly happy to leave the high 20s until late June onwards, when it's more typical!)

EDIT: Wundermap shows how jammy we were. Yes, these are PWSs, yes, many will over-read, but the overall pattern is clear.

24.2C here at 3pm, 20C now.

There's a line of heavy showers over Co.Durham less than 20 miles away, it's not clear if they were triggered over Lake District or North Pennines, or its the approaching cold front.

Another lovely sunny day, but not quite as warm as yesterday at 23.5°C. Interestingly, it's cooled off quite significantly this evening, as the cooler air starts to move in. It's down to just 13.9°C now, which is actually lower than last night's minimum here.

Regardless of all of that though, today was still much cooler than of late at all of these stations here in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, today wasn't as sunny as of late as a total of just 4.1 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening and as it is now approaching sunset, the final figure for that isn't expected to be much higher than the one reported here.
