Thought I'd kick this thread off today - as it's unusual here!

After a chilly but clear night, with a light frost, fog set in some time between 2 and 3 AM. Since then the temperature has yo-yoed up and down, but the fog persists. It's presently -3.7, dew -4.4., the low so far being -3.8 - the coldest night of the cold spell. I'm not sure whether the fog is freezing fog or not.

Everything outside is covered in frost and I'm sure when it gets light it'll look fantastic!

The grey damp cloudy conditions cleared during the night with a lovely silver moon light. However the light SE breeze coming off the sea stopped the temperatures from dropping to low. It’s currently 7.1c.

Last night was a night in which the temperature refused to drop and so normal service has now been resumed on that front.

With the temperatures already being fairly low, we still managed to just scrape an official air frost and no more but the temperatures  didn't drop any lower than -1.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and are already slightly above freezing as I write even though sunrise is still a while away yet.

In addition to that, this morning is also starting off on a much more cloudy and overcast note, so there will be no chance of us being able to see this morning's sunrise.

currently around 1°C here in Edinburgh.

Another lovely morning here. Currently reading -1.9°C but it is much colder inland (for example -7°C at the airport).

The kind of day to go for a walk on the still snow covered beach or maybe watch the ice flow from the river into the sea.

It's absolutely stunning out there this morning - there's shallow fog, and it's definitely freezing fog! Everything has rime on it, glittering in the weak sunshine; the air is crisp, there's barely a sound and not even a breath of wind. Thick ice covers ponds and any remaining puddles, the ground is frozen solid and there's now 3 days' worth of frost built up. The view out of the bathroom window, with its obscure glazing, is pure white - just as it would be with a cover of snow. A few pictures from my garden - the top of the Scots Pine tree (around 25 ft high), the sun shining through some shrubbery and a frosty Great Dane statue - I've got a life-sized one on my patio!

It's presently -3.3, dew -4.0 (remarkable for coming up to 10 in the morning), and the low ended up as -3.8.

No frost overnight here with 0.4c low.

Overcast with a slow thaw, currently 0.9c, but still a lot of slippery surfaces underfoot.

After the lovely days we've had for the last week or so we're no back to the grey overcast dismal looking rubbish weather, temperature at 5.4c and rising so melting the nice bit of snow we have left and DP at 4c. a very slight breeze making it feel a little colder but overall a dull looking day.

A lovely morning has turned into a pleasant afternoon. As I said to the Sainsbury's driver just now, it's spring out the front (everything's green and glistening with droplets from melted frost) and winter out the back (the lawn is still white, and shaded areas still have their rime). The sun's shining brightly and the fog has long gone.

1.7, dew 1.1, and that's the high so far.

Currently sunny and 3.3°C but very little evidence of a thaw just yet as the ground is so deeply frozen.

This morning has been fairly bright with some sunshine at times but also a lot of high to medium level cloud.

Today isn't as cold as it has been lately and the temperature is currently around 4°C here in Edinburgh but although that is still around or slightly below the 1991-2020 January average, that has actually been enough to make today our warmest day of the year so far which just goes to show how cold this year has been so far, especially since that is also in complete contrast to what December was like.

As others have noted another fantastic day here. Up  to 2.7C now after the coldest night so far of -5.3C. But with blue skies and a thick hoar frost it's about as good as you can get if you can't have snow. In fact I'd venture to say it's much better than a few hours of wet unsettling snow.

After a frosty start despite a min of 0.2 C at 1.30 am, I certainly felt the apricity of the early afternoon Winter sun when I was at the beach with my smartphone and drone. It was 7 C at the time, but frost on my lawn still preserved in the shade on account of mid-65% H keeping DP at freezing levels.

Slow thaw today but dipped down to 1.2c now under clearing skies which means the ground has frozen again.

Still 14-18cm snow on the lawn. The pavements are packed ice and I think they will  still take a few days to improve.
