And with some punchy gusts, the cold front has arrived... it fell from 13.2 to 11.9 in the space of one minute!

It's now 10.7, dew 9.8, and feels much colder already outside.

Just reached 10 mm here at Folkestone. With about 2 to 3 mm to go in the next hour, that brings me to pretty close to my forecast of 15 mm in my back yard. Of course, rainfall amounts will have varied across Kent given the showery nature of it all.

Winds is also quite blustery as the back edge cold front move through right now. 12.8 C and 98% H currently, I suspect I'll start to feel an increasing chill in the air soon.

Cold, 5.9C. After heaviest rain of the year 26.3mm in 8 hours from midnight. Not as windy as expected which is just as well given how surprisingly cold it is.

Had about an inch of rain overnight - nothing unusual for an active weather front at at any time of year let alone winter.

Currently a very chilly 6.7C

Rather cold for the time of year. If we hadn't of had the cold spell last week this would have been quite noticeable.

-0.8c here still. Possibly would have made an ice day if not for the + 0.1c recorded just after 1am last night. 🥶

Bright and clear here at 2.55pm. Light breeze. A very sunny drive home from Lincoln, but some surface water on roads still.

The temperature's only falling slowly here: 5.9, dew 3.7, and there are still puddles on the clay soil in the garden from the rain earlier. I'm not expecting a frost tonight, but you never know...

This latest cold snap is also expected to be much briefer as well and so, it is interesting to see an ice day being recorded in Ireland as I don't think that anyone here in the UK had an ice day today otherwise I'm sure that someone would have been quickly to tell us that.

Here in Edinburgh, today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 5.9°C which is colder than other recent days but not as cold as it wa during that recent cold spell which I mentioned above.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 1°C.

Mark Vogan mentioned that a few locations in the north of Scotland didn't get above freezing today which means that a few parts of the UK did possibly get an ice day after all. SInce that is in the north of Scotland, I'm not surprised that this hasn't been mentioned here although I'm sure that it would have been a completely different story if it was the south of England which was getting an ice day.

Anyway, the temperature here in Edinburgh has now dropped to around -1°C and to -2°C at Edinburgh Airport with an official air frost already being recorded at all three of my local stations.

Lots of sites on 'Highlands & Islands Weather' had an ice day. I can see two locations with a Max of -2.8 C in Localsh and Aberdeenshire. (Obviously they can't 'declare' until 0900 tomorrow 😀)
