A cloudy, dry, warm and humid start to the day here. (Un)surprisingly the rain avoided the eastern half of Sheppey eastwards overnight, amazing how often that happens. The MetO raw has changed to show 3 hours of light rain immediately, then a brighter day with even some sunny spells - 20C should be achievable again.

17.2, dew 16.2, the overnight low being 16.7.

16.3C cloudy after light overnight rain.

The downpours and lightning shows seem to be avoiding West Sussex

Happy Autumn Equinox everyone.

As I write, we're still a couple of days away from the Equilux which is the actual day in which the days and nights are of equal length but after that, the nights will be longer than the nights and since today also marks the start of astronomical autumn, it's now autumn regardless of how you actually define that.

Meanwhile, our latest permacast hell here in Edinburgh has now gone into its third day and although there isn't any of the dampness or light drizzle which has been around on other recent mornings, today is still once again starting off on yet another dull, overcast and dreary note here with a temperature of around 11°C after an overnight minimum temperature of 11.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, even though yesterday was once again our coldest day of this autumn so far with a maximum temperature of just 13.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Today is very wet. We already have 27.6mm on the gauge and it's only 9 in the morning. The forecast says rain all day with heavy rain this evening so I think we might get a record total today. 47.7mm to beat!

Lightning and thunder throughout the night last night.

Fairly breezy and overcast 18.8c 91% RH

There was some more Thunder and lightning about, between midnight and 1pm, not directly overhead, somewhere off to my west, but close enough to be bright and noisy.

Somewhat cooler this morning at 17.8C. Rather dull and damp after the largest amount of rain for some weeks at 13.8mm overnight. Hopefully more to come to fill the pond and save all of the struggling plants and trees.

It's the warmest it's been for two and a half weeks here! The wretched humidity remains, of course. Partly cloudy here, with strong sunshine, and the eventual bit of rain we had this morning (3mm) is just adding to the humidity.

22.3, dew 18.7.

Meanwhile, Day 4 of this s*** here and colder at 10 C. Didn't get light until 8!

I'm braving it and walking up the hill for exercise. At least we've lost the drizzle

Another sunny and relatively warm day, but with the wind now from a westerly quarter the dewpoint has, at long last, started to fall. It now feels fresher outside than it does indoors!

20.0, dew 14.4, the high being 20.4.

Last night's low ended up as 15.4.

Absolute garbage for the fourth consecutive day.

3 out of 4 days completely sunless. 3 out of 4 holiday Mondays completely sunless.

This festering pile of filth had the added bonus of being the coldest September Holiday Monday (which is always the fourth Monday in September) going back to at least 1966 with a diabolical max of only 10.2C which also made it the coldest September day since 2007. The previous coldest Holiday Monday max was 11C in 1974 and 2003.

Here in Edinburgh, today was once again our coldest day of this autumn so far with a maximum temperature of 11.5°C where there has still been no recorded sunshine since Thursday and so, the latest permacast hell goes on.😡

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh.

Mostly cloudy and though it feels much cooler it was still as warm as you'd expect for July, not late September.

13.9, dew 13.1, the overnight low being 12.9.

17.8mm of rain in the past 48 hours, FWIW.
