As expected, an entirely different feel to things today! It's more like an April day in terms of feel.
Partly cloudy, with the sun doing little to warm things up. 12.2, dew 8.8, and that's the high so far! Last night's low was 8.7, the coldest for 3 months (it fell to 5.9 on the 13th June).

After experiencing lovely, toasty 30c+ and sunny days (thunderstorms and some torrential showers overnight) for the first week of our holiday, which then changed to mid twenties and some wet, showery days, to finally low twenties the last week and yesterday, it seemed the 1st of September rolled around and decided it was going to go full on autumn in the south of France (many closed their pools the last weekend). It was still quite the shock though, to arrive back yesterday late afternoon to just 12c and plenty of, at times torrential, rain.
It's 13.7c here right now but it was only 10c when I got up this morning, blowing a bit of a hoolie at times and now looks like more showers coming in, after a mostly bright start to the day! Autumn has definitely arrived here too and a lot colder.

Just popped out for a short walk and it was slightly warmer than I expected. The sun feels fairly strong and out of the breeze it is quite pleasant. I notice that there is a proper Cheshire Gap streamer today and so far it has sent all of the showers to the north of us.
If this was 3 months later there'd be a lot of excitement today around "wintry showers" !

Second week of September and its 7.4C at 2:30 pm - almost in sleety showers territory.
We had a sharp shower with rumble of thunder to SE

Surprised we got up to 13.7c in some prolonged sunshine not long ago, but the first shower of the day with hail has dropped the temp to 9.8c.

It really has reminded me of April today. There has been a recent shower, and you can tell there's cold air aloft (just below freezing at 850, in fact) as the temperature really plummeted *and* it's taking its time rising again now the sun's out.

Before the shower it was 17.1, it then fell to 11.9 (!) and it's now sitting around 12.5. Remarkable stuff, and more like what I'd expect as a brief overnight minimum this time of year rather than an afternoon / early evening temperature.

I don't have the figures, but I believe subzero 850s this far south at this time of year are extremely rare.

Already down to 8c so expecting a fairly chilly run at 6am tomorrow.

Have shut the greenhouse door now to help the last few tomatoes ripen. I'm not sure the chillies will manage it this year so it might be a mix of green and last year's reds from the freezer for the next batch of chilli jam.

Cool and clear to start the day, but a slight breeze means the temperature's not fallen to really low levels.
7.9, dew 5.9, the low so far being 7.8. Yesterday's high was 17.2, meaning the day as a whole was 4 or 5C below average!

7.5C. Clear with a light breeze from NW.
Temps can't drop too low at this time of year because there is still a lot of residual warmth in the ground and seas

Down to around 5.2C at Gosport Fleetlands last night however warmer at Thorney and almost certainly warmer in Gosport & Portsmouth urban areas. Still for the South coast that's impressive for September.

Managed 17.5C and in the sunshine it hasn't felt too bad. However exposed to the wind it's felt very chilly.

Widespread air frost for sure tonight locally as wind has dropped out under clear skies - its 3C here but have seen +1.2C some places to south of moors already

Google (which thinks I live in Croydon, as if I'd do that!) saying that current 7C is a date record for lowest in that area.
