Conclusion
Overall, May 2024 was an exceptionally warm month in which not even a single ground frost was recorded, let alone any air frosts. As for the UK as a whole, it will probably go down as the warmest month on record and I wouldn't be surprised if that was more locally, also the case here in Edinburgh, even though it was also a very easterly month with the wind coming in from off the North Sea at lot of the time.
In addition to that, it was also a thoroughly wet and miserable month with more than three times our 1991-2020 May average rainfall.
Furthermore, May 2024 was also substantially duller than average.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
