Low pressure has been dominant for several months now but the coming week will see much more in the way of high pressure with the weather turning both drier and warmer. A much better week to come in terms of "useful" weather.

Saturday morning has had decent sunny spells for much of England and Wales but western Scotland, Northern Ireland and north west England have had a lot of cloud with some light rain and drizzle. This afternoon will keep showery rain going across Northern Ireland, north west England and south west Scotland but most places will stay dry with the best of the sunny spells in the south and east. Temperatures range from 9C to 16C.

Overnight, more showers continue across Scotland and Northern Ireland while England and Wales remain mostly dry with clear spells and variable cloud. Somewhat unusually, temperatures will be coolest in the south at 4C to 7C and mildest in the north at 9C to 11C. Watch out for a few mist and fog patches in the south, too.

Sunday brings more showers to Scotland and Northern Ireland but there will be drier interludes, too. England and Wales will have a scattering of showers but many places will stay dry though more persistent rain could move into the south and south west later in the afternoon. A warm day with temperatures of 12C to 19C.

Bank Holiday Monday will see more showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland but this time England and Wales will join in as well, with a risk of heavy and thundery showers in places. The showers could merge into longer spells of rain through Wales and the Midlands but some places will miss the downpours and stay dry all day. Temperatures 10C to 17C.

High pressure starts to build through the country on Tuesday. Many places will stay dry with sunny spells and variable cloud but a scattering of showers could develop through central regions, especially. A warm day with temperatures of 12C to 21C.

High pressure dominates the weather on Wednesday. All places should stay dry with sunny spells and areas of cloud. It will be a warm day with temperatures reaching 13C to 22C.

A weather system pushes into the far north on Thursday bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to northern and western Scotland. The rest of the country will stay dry with bright or sunny spells. Temperatures should be warm again away from northwestern Scotland at 10C to 21C.

High pressure continues to dominate the weather on Friday. Some light rain is possible for northern Scotland but the rest of the country will remain dry with plenty of sunny spells. Temperatures will be warm again, ranging from 14C to 21C.

High pressure continues to rule the roost into next weekend with lots of dry and warm weather on the cards though we might see some rain getting into the far west by Sunday evening. Temperatures might get close to 25C in the south east for the first time this year?

Summary: Some showers this weekend but most places having a dry week with sunny spells and warm temperatures. #Enjoy
