No air frost here, at least not yet... it could still happen in the next few hours.

Clear, calm, 1.2C / dew 0.0C. The low so far is 0.8C and there's a frost on the cars, and I suspect the grass too - the first ground frost of the season.

Just back from an atmospheric walk with the dog in the local woods. Proper see your breath cold under an overcast sky following a crisp frosty start. Carpet of golden brown leaves underfoot along with some still icy puddles. The remaining yellow leaves on the trees standing out in the gloom along with the white trunks of the silver birch. Birds and squirrels all very busy (much to the dog's delight). Would be nice if this were a portent of a long severe spell of cold to see us through next month and into next year. One can dream...

A rather cloudy start to this morning so on the face it, it doesn't exactly look all that interesting.

However, that didn't prevent the temperature from falling to around -1°C at Edinburgh Airport, -0.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and -0.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank which means that an official air frost was still recorded at all three of my local stations.

This means that regardless of what happens during the rest of this month, both this month and this autumn will go down as being frostier than average as there has been more air frosts during this month than the 1991-2020 November average, and more air frosts during this autumn than the 1991-2020 autumn average.

However, the temperature at 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning was around 2°C here in Edinburgh with no actual visible frost to be seen.
