When was the last time September was warmer than July? Definitely a chance first 10 days at least look very warm.

I've placed my prediction with the upcoming warm spell in mind, but mindful of cool nights under clear skies.

There have only been 4 Septembers which have beaten the July 2023 figure of 16.1C - 1729, 1865, 1949 and 2006. 2016 equalled it.

So a big ask but not impossible.

Interesting range of predictions. I'm a little surprised somebody hasn't gone for the September record given the very warm start to the month. By my reckoning we could well have a high 18s CET after 10 days. A number of people are predicting a major cool down after the early heat.

Will we flip to full autumn mode later in the month or will we get a longer final taste of summer?

I was looking through the CET stats last night. Interestingly, we've never had a year where all 4 months from June to September had a CET of 16C or more. Potential for that to happen this year ......

No one going for a record but nonetheless alot of very high numbers there
September 2006 on 16.9C is the warmest by a margin of more than half a degree C and anything above 15.6C would be hotter than any September between 1949 and 2006, so anything north of 15.5 is elite territory really

What's incredible to think is: July, which is normally the warmest month of the year, could end up being the fourth warmest month of 2023! Cooler than June, August and September. That would surely be unprecedented for the CET and UK weather records?

That said, a 17°C June and a 17°C September in the same year would be extraordinary. It would be on par with getting a 19°C July and August in the same summer.
