High pressure has been dominant for the past couple of weeks and will continue to be in control for the coming week as well. Dry, fine and sunny weather ahead with an increasingly warm trend later next week too...

Saturday has been dry and sunny across the whole country. The rest of the day will stay pretty much as it is right now with long spells of sunshine for England and Wales though Scotland and Northern Ireland will see a little cloud bubbling up at times. There may may a scattered shower in the Highlands but nearly the entire country will stay dry with bags of sunshine. Temperatures will be warm or very warm at 18C to 24C but eastern coasts will be cooler.

Overnight, all places will stay dry with a mix of clear spells and variable cloud. Eastern counties will see more cloud than further west on what will be a chilly night with temperatures of 3C to 10C. Watch out for pockets of ground frost in northern England.

Sunday promises another dry day with long sunny spells once any early morning mist patches have burned off. Cloud will bubble up for Scotland and Northern Ireland with the risk of a scattered shower in a few places but once again the majority of the country will stay dry. Warm or very warm at 18C to 24C but eastern coasts will be cooler.

High pressure sits over the country on Monday. We'll have another dry and warm or very warm day with long spells of sunshine once any early morning cloud had burned off. Temperatures 18C to 22C in central and western regions but the east will be cooler at 12C to 16C.

It's a case of rinse/repeat on Tuesday. Another dry, sunny and warm day ahead though eastern coasts will be cooler and cloudier. Temperatures 18C to 24C but cooler on the east coast.

High pressure goes on for Wednesday. Expect another mostly dry and sunny day with temperatures of 18C to 24C though the east coast will be cooler.

The weather remains mostly dry, sunny and very warm on Thursday. Watch out for a scattered thundery shower across Scotland. Temperatures 18C to 24C. Cooler on the east coast.

High pressure dominates on Friday but a little more of a southeasterly component to the wind direction will see even warmer air moving in from the Continent. Another dry, sunny and very warm day with temperatures of 20C to 26C (68F to 79F)

Next weekend keeps the high pressure in-situ so the weather stays dry and sunny but could bring us the first pulse of hot air this Summer with temperatures potentially approaching 30C in the south on Sunday!

Summary: Mostly dry, sunny and warm or very warm. Hot in the south by next weekend perhaps?
