Cold and frosty here in Edinburgh with an official air frost at all three of my local stations, although this has also taken us into a bright and sunny start to today.

Last night's overnight minimum temperatures were -0.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -0.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and -2°C at Edinburgh Airport.

As at 8am GMT (08:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature here in Edinburgh was around 0°C.

Actually quite bright where the 10 C felt pleasantly mild in the low noon sun when I popped out to get the papers. Seems that them thar hills to the north of the town are doing a good job in filtering out the low cloud murk under a gentle north breeze.

I've just been into Lincoln whch is reading itself for their Christmas Market. It takes me back to the '90s when we had once had heavy snow for this. Last time was 2010. Today it was a misty 5degC. Felt positively mild.

I must say I would enjoy a go on the "big wheel" next to the Norman castle, looking over the wall.
