Warmest 0700Z (8am) reading on the mainland seems to be 24.5C in Sheffield. Both Jersey and Guernsey are over 25C.
Where can you see the Sheffield temp (and others that aren't on Weatheronline or Ogimet)?
It's on the map at Weatherobs.com. It has a synop code (99107) so I assume it is an official Met station (it was quoted in the 2019 heatwave article on the Met Office site too).
It's a real shame we've lost Gravesend - and that Brogdale isn't an automatic station. If either of the above were in play you'd be seeing 27 or 28 by now. (Going by the many PWS which are showing 28+ in north Kent right now.)

The WOW site shows quite a few but some are clearly a bit dodgy. (Is the one in Leysdown yours by any chance?)
That is fantastic, also has Ryhill and Bramham which I will be keeping an eye on.
Has Doncaster airport but that might not be an official one, just an airport? If so, it is concern that there isn't a weather station on the flat plains/Vale of York all the way from South of Doncaster up the Vale of York as tomorrow that could see the record high.
Yup, that Leysdown one is mine. It's a daytime fan-aspirated Davis VP2, so should be reasonably accurate (the fan is certainly whirring away like mad now!)
FWIW, way more people use Weather Underground:

Up to 26.4C now.
Also worth keeping an eye on SW France today, where models have suggested 45-46C could be possible.GFS has 46C, Arome 42C. Arpege 43C, NMM 44C.French national record is 46.0C so it could be close.
Edit: thanks for that Darren. The WOW website is appallingly un-user-friendly! Wunderground is a lot better. WOW has (or used to have) some of the more obscure Met stations like Cambridge Botanic Garden though.

Since Linton bit the dust it is a bit of a desert round here for official obs, but my station always seemed pretty close to Linton's output. Will update on obs tomorrow.
Currently 24.5c here at 8.45am.
I’m walking to the station (in t-shirt and shorts, got the work garb to put on when I get into the air conditioned office). It feels hot already, I would guess at least 27 possibly 28C. Not what the nearest official station - London City - is showing though.
On Wunderground it seems like stations in the lee of the North Downs are widely at 28C already with a few at 29C.Darren: is there a way to see more details of the stations on Wundermap, eg temp graphs etc, or is it just the live view?
It’s this kind of thing that makes me wonder about Brogdale tomorrow.
Is Brogdale definitely still up and running? I hope so because otherwise there is a real dearth of obs sites in the north Kent hot zone.
Here comes Biggin Hill 27c at 9am . Can we get to 30c by 10am?
Yes, you can click a station to go to its details page - which has all the graphs you could want.
EDIT: Hmm, doesn't seem to work from the big map any more! If you use the small mini-map on a station's own page, though, it works (albeit a pain to pan to the area you want).

(That's my station - if you pan the minimap around the other stations are clickable).
