I'm sticking with the lockdown, not only to protect myself but to protect others too.

Yup, we have to, if only the protect the idiots and those (so of whom are dying protecting both unfortunates and idiots) who will care for them in hospital.

The next wave of illness will (and its rough justice) probably be more 'the at risk who are idiots' dominated - and there can't be that many of them because, on a more positive note, plenty of those at risk I know are keeping well out of it all.

Unfortunate as these incidents are they're not related to the point I was raising with regards to criticism leveled at Jennie Harries' presentation at today's "briefing"

I didn't see today's briefing. However, IMO they lost credibility when after 7 weeks they suddenly decided the international comparison slide was not valid any longer. Odd that.

From New Scientist...

UK’s estimated coronavirus infection rate is now between 0.7 and 1

The UK’s coronavirus R value – the estimated number of people each person infects – is now between 0.7 and 1, according to the government’s scientific advisory group for emergencies (SAGE). Five days ago, UK prime minister Boris Johnson said R was between 0.5 and 0.9. The government’s science advisors say the increase is not a reflection of coronavirus restrictions being eased in England this week, but rather due to a lag in the data that is used to model the R value. We won’t know how easing restrictions has impacted the current R value for another three weeks.

For some ‘light relief’ do watch Charlie Brooker’s screen wipe from last night ...comedy gold of the highest order.....and the added bonus of plenty of quotes from Boris about how well funded the NHS was and now we’ll equipped we all were to cope with the pandemic.. ....along with a great line about fund raising for the NHS...captain Tom might have raised £30plus million for the NHS but Boris was busy raising £350m a week by driving his big red bus around the Country!

The figure that Hancock gave (10,024 in hospital) is at odds with the slide Jenny Harries showed, i.e.

this says 10,731 in hospital.

Yep, that was the figure that i got when i added up all the figures, with N Ireland's being the previous day.

Have they given a reason for separating all the regions out? I found it a lot easier to follow when they were all on the same graph.

So who has the most up to date data, Darren. If they're not talking from the same prayer sheet, it leads to confusion and suspicion.

There's a need for better co-ordination prior to any briefing

I also gave up on them when I realised they were not about informing, more about self congratulation.

I notice that the slide showing tube usage running for almost two months at just 5% of normal levels has been missing over the last couple of days just as there is news that TfL has needed a bail-out.

I heard business travellers will be exempt? That would show that it was just a PR stunt and not related to protecting public health

One of my friends thought it was a great idea that people were now starting to be allowed back into the country but had to be quarantined. He had quite a reaction when i told him that people had still been coming in over the last couple of months.

I imagine that Hancock was badly bullied at school. He has that look and whine about him. And he's a nasty little weasel.

And what exactly is the relevance of that comment?

I am not a great fan of Hancock and would prefer Hunt in the role, but cut the guy some slack - he has been under the most severe pressure imaginable for the past couple of months.

He presides over the UK's appalling snd shameful Covid death toll. Does he express any remorse for his multitude of failures? Like f4ck he does! All he does is stand at that podium and congratulate himself and his slimebag colleagues.

He is a disgusting weasel.
